Are visas required to visit South Africa?

No, USA, EU and UK passport holders do not require a visa for visits to South Africa for up to 90 days.

Will we have access to medical care

Although the hunting concessions and lodges are remotely located, medical care is available in the surrounding areas. Note that we hunt in a malaria-free area at all times. 

Do I need insurance?

Fairgame Safaris recommends that all clients obtain travel insurance prior to their safari.

How will I be be getting there?

You will fly to either Johannesburg or Cape Town and then take a connecting flight (c. 2 hours) to Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) or East London. We will meet you at the airport and drive you to the hunting lodge which are between 2 and 3 hours from Port Elizabeth and East London.

Charter flights directly to the lodges from Cape Town or Johannesburg to the can be arranged. Please get in touch to find out more.

What kind of climate can I expect?

We hunt in South Africa from March through to October. The climate differs slightly between our Coastal concessions Coastal and the Karoo concessions (Wilgebosch Homestead and 360 Mountain Lodge). The coastal areas receive around 750mm rainfall annually (mainly between October and April the summer months) with midday temperatures ranging between 18°C and 28°C in summer and between 10°C and 20°C in winter. 

The Karoo receives significantly less rainfall per year, around 450mm, mainly falling in thunderstorms from January through to April. The average midday temperatures range from 15°C to 35°C in summer and between -2°C and 18°C in winter.

Can I bring my own rifle?

Yes, this is possible, however it involves additional admin and logistics. We recommend hiring one of the many rifles we have in our collection. Please get in touch in advance, if you will be bringing your own rifle. 

What kind of activities are available for the non-hunters?

At Fairgame Safaris, non-hunters and observers have a variety of activities to enjoy:

  • Game Drives: Experience the thrill of wildlife viewing on guided game drives through our diverse reserves and hunting concessions.

  • Nature Walks: Enjoy guided nature walks through the scenic landscapes of our Karoo ranch.

  • Beach: Relax and unwind at the beautiful beaches at our coastal reserve, Fort D' Acre.

  • Golf: Play a round of golf at any of our nearby courses.
